Reading tweets is like a car ride with someone who’s just slammed an 8 ball. We bounce between unrelated thoughts, ideas, conversations, suggestions, requests, etc. in a matter of seconds. There’s no time to give anything a moment’s contemplation.

This feels like more an issue with how the medium is used, rather than the medium. He even says later, “[t]his phenomenon isn’t unique to Twitter,” but doesn’t seem to accept that it’s the process that could be broken.

There’s always time to stop and reflect, if you really want to – you just have to make the time and space to do it, à la Habit Fields. Media like Twitter and Facebook lack the space to do that – something I think Instapaper does much better, if you actually reserve and care for that time and space.

This is my beard.

Not many people like it. There have been a few positive words, but most folks are detractors. My girlfriend doesn’t like it, nor does my mother. (At least it’s better than the last time I grew out facial hair, when people started a Facebook group that begged me to shave. I’m serious.) And it’s been called names. Mostly bad ones.

I think “fugly scruff” stung the worst.

I’ve been growing it to try to raise a little awareness – like sween – for cancer. But it’s not a “mo,” as they say, so I don’t have a page there.

And there are a lot of places that could also use your money.

Anyway, it’ll be gone on Saturday – maybe not before some indigestion – so it’s pretty much now or never to “pimp” my “social presences,” as they say.

I’ve always been a fan of the American Cancer Society, thanks to Mike Monteiro, so please help out.

Personally, I’m donating $10 for every day this thing has been on my face, but any amount you can give would be nice.
